Egg Donation in Georgia — the Egg Donor Bank and Donor Selection at GI Rimon Clinic

Egg donation is the solution when pregnancy is not achieved with the woman’s own eggs — because of age, a low ovarian reserve or repeated IVF failures. At GI Rimon clinic in Batumi we run our own egg donor bank: women aged 18–33 with confirmed health, who have passed medical and genetic screening at our clinic before entering the database.

An IVF program with a fresh donor egg costs €6,000 without medication and tests, or €9,500 including medication and tests; a program with 10 frozen donor eggs — €7,000 / €8,000. Prices are in euros and may differ by up to 10% depending on the case. The full price list is on the prices page.

The donor is chosen at our clinic by profile — physical characteristics, blood group and test results — and without a waiting list: we usually perform the first transfer within three months of your first contact. Support is provided in English and Hebrew, and Batumi is a short flight from most European cities.

Who it suits

Who are the donors in our egg bank

Our egg bank in Georgia includes only women aged 18 to 33 with confirmed health. We do not recruit donors as a separate service and do not work through intermediaries: every donor is examined at our clinic, according to the requirements of the Georgian Ministry of Health, and only then does her profile enter the donor database.

Requirements for a donor:

  • age 18–33;
  • normal physical and mental health, without chronic diseases;
  • no genetic or hereditary defects in the family;
  • normal body weight and a pleasant appearance;
  • preference for women with at least one healthy child;
  • willingness to undergo all the medical and psychological tests.

The tests every donor undergoes at our clinic include blood tests for infectious diseases, a hormonal profile and assessment of the ovarian reserve, a gynecological ultrasound and genetic screening. We know our donors: we know how many good-quality eggs they produce per cycle and which of their previous donations resulted in a pregnancy.

How to choose an egg donor at our clinic: profile, matching and photos

In an anonymous donation you do not know who the donor is, but you see her profile: hair and eye color, facial features and build, blood group, number of children and the results of the medical and genetic tests. Most of our patients choose a donor with an appearance similar to their own and a compatible blood group, and our fertility doctor recommends the best match from the medical point of view. To make the right choice, we give every couple time and full medical information about every donor who suits them.

What about a donor database with photos? The extent of the visual information in the profile is shown at the consultation, in accordance with the rules of anonymity; identifying details of the donor are not disclosed, and the donor receives no information about the patient either.

A non-anonymous donation is also possible: a relative or acquaintance who agrees to donate undergoes exactly the same tests at our clinic, and only after medical approval do we start the program.

The selection process in three steps:

  1. Consultation and tests of both partners

    We check the woman’s endometrium and hormonal profile and the man’s semen analysis; part of the tests can be done in your home country.

  2. Choosing the donor from the database

    You define what matters to you, and we present suitable profiles with a medical recommendation.

  3. Coordinating the cycle

    We synchronize the donor with the patient (fresh eggs) or set a date for thawing (frozen eggs).

The process

How the egg donation procedure works at our clinic

In a fresh egg donation the donor undergoes ovarian stimulation for about 10 days under ultrasound monitoring, and in parallel we prepare the patient’s endometrium with hormonal treatment. The eggs are retrieved from the donor under short anesthesia and fertilized the same day by ICSI with the partner’s sperm or with donor sperm from our sperm bank.

The embryos grow in our laboratory for 3–5 days, and we transfer the best-quality embryo to the uterus; other good-quality embryos are frozen for a future transfer. In the program with frozen eggs no synchronization is needed: the 10 eggs are thawed on the day of fertilization, so the date of treatment is set at your convenience.

The stay in Batumi is short: the early monitoring can be done at home, and you come to us for a few days for the fertilization and the transfer. A pregnancy test is done about two weeks after the transfer, and all the results and next steps are given to you in English or Hebrew.

In detail

Who is egg donation suitable for

We recommend considering egg donation in the following situations:

  • the woman is 43 or older, or the ovarian reserve has declined early;
  • premature ovarian insufficiency or early menopause;
  • ovaries removed or damaged by surgery, chemotherapy or radiation;
  • advanced endometriosis;
  • ovaries that do not respond to hormonal stimulation;
  • genetic diseases in the family that could be passed on to the child;
  • two or more IVF failures with the woman’s own eggs, when the embryos were of poor quality.

Our fertility team reviews every case individually. If there is still a reasonable chance with your own eggs, we tell you so at the consultation and offer standard in vitro fertilization or fertility treatment without IVF.

The law

The legal side: egg donation in Georgia

Donation of reproductive cells, in vitro fertilization and surrogacy are regulated in Georgia by the Law on Health Care of 1997 (Article 143). The donor is not mentioned in any official document of the child, and only the parents appear on the birth certificate. We draw up all the agreements between the clinic, the donor and the patients in writing, before the program starts, so that every party knows its rights. The legal information is correct as of September 2026; the legislation may change, and we update the page accordingly.

FAQ

Questions and answers about egg donation

Are your donors anonymous?

Yes, unless you come with a known donor. In an anonymous donation you receive the full profile — physical characteristics, blood group and test results — but no identifying details, and the donor receives no information about you.

Can we see photos of the donors?

The extent of the visual information in the profile is shown at the consultation, in accordance with the rules of anonymity in Georgia. Contact us and we will explain exactly what you will see before choosing.

How old are the donors and which tests do they undergo?

Our donors are aged 18–33, with confirmed health. Each of them has undergone tests for infectious diseases, a hormonal profile, ultrasound, genetic screening and a psychological assessment at our clinic.

How much does egg donation cost at your clinic?

€6,000 without medication and tests or €9,500 including medication and tests in the program with a fresh egg; €7,000 / €8,000 in the program with 10 frozen eggs. A difference of up to 10% is possible.

How long does the process take and when do we need to come to Batumi?

From the first contact to the first transfer it usually takes up to three months. In Batumi itself you need to stay a few days around the fertilization and the transfer; the early monitoring can be done at home.

Can egg donation be combined with donor sperm or with surrogacy?

Yes. A program with 4 frozen donor embryos costs €8,000 / €9,000, and surrogacy with donor eggs — €59,000 (guaranteed program €65,000). Contact us and we will adapt the route to your situation.

The information on this page is for information purposes only and does not replace personal medical advice. Suitability for egg donation is determined by a medical examination, and prices and conditions may change. For up-to-date information contact the GI Rimon team.
